Financial Modelling (aka Budgets) for your Startup Business [Hub SC MEL 25Jul]

Thu July 25, 2019 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

About This Workshop

In this introductory workshop we’ll walk through the principles as well as the practical considerations of what you need to think about when building a financial model.

We’ll run through the key drivers of revenue, and how to model them, what are the true costs of people and the key expense areas to consider.

We’ll go through an introduction to three-way modelling to demonstrate the importance of this and reflect that profit does not equal cash and you’ll be able to see how much cash you need to raise and how long your cash runway is.

We’ll do a high level example of how you would start to build a model, and examples of presenting these to investors before talking about how to use and maintain the model to report your actuals.

Taught by the dynamic duo of Remco Marcelis from Standard Ledger and Jun Yan from Ravit Insights, they bring their wealth of startup and financial modelling experience to bear in this introduction to financial modeling.

While we’ll walk you through a worked example in a simple excel model to demonstrate the way of thinking, this is not intended to be an Excel training course.

Follow us on Eventbrite for upcoming events on Excel, Startup Equity & Valuation, Metrics and Funding your Startup.

Stay around after the presentation to enjoy some light refreshments and continue the conversation with Remco and Jun.

Participants will receive slides and a Financial Model template.

AND don’t miss the opportunity to talk to Remco about your business too. He’s running free private sessions at Hub Collins Street throughout the event series. Pre-book in here and if you can’t get a spot, you can always book a separate call with him instead.

This event is part of Standard Ledger’s free Expert-in-Residence program at Hub Melbourne this winter.

Did someone say free finance advice? Yes we did. Thanks to LaunchVic’s Expert-in-Residence program, Standard Ledger’s managing partner Remco Marcelis is running a series of workshops from July to September at Hub Melbourne, covering everything startups and SMEs need to know about all things tax, finance and accounting.

Join us as we deep dive into what you really need to consider when developing your budget. You’ll learn how an effective financial model will successfully track your progress and identify any issues before they arise.
